FAVORITE BLOG #5- Niche Interiors Blog
The first blog that I read on this was ‘What is Eco-friendly Interior Design?’ and I think it’s great. The other blogs that I have read so far have been about what makes a room functional, how to make a foyer look great, ect… but I haven’t read one about an eco-friendly interior. I think it’s important to know about economically friendly design because of the environment we live in today. A lot of people are trying to live more ‘green’ so it’s definitely a great subject to post about. Reading some of their other posts about black and white interiors, family friendly interiors, kids décor, and such shows me that they are on top of the design trends. I also think that the way they explain the design trends is great.
FAVORITE BLOG #4- Pepper Design Blog
This blog is about furniture, which makes or breaks a space. There are many elements that are considered when designing a space but furniture is probably one of the most important. One of the things I like about this blog is that the furniture they show is refurbished which shows that even if something is old you can restore it and make it look amazing. It can save on money and still look like it’s new. There is a before and after picture of a sideboard which I think is fantastic. The before picture is a plain wood sideboard that is your standard looking piece of furniture. The after picture is amazing because they painted it a shade of yellow that pops in the grayish room. It’s more of a focal point and adds interest to the space. What’s also great about this blog is that unlike a lot of the other blogs I’ve seen, it’s colorful, has a subtle design that makes you take notice, and the name is big and draws your attention.
FAVORITE BLOG #3- Garrison Hullinger Blog
What I like about this blog is that it deals a lot with different styles. It’s easy to get styles wrong or mixed up so it’s nice beings able to read about them. They go through modern, contemporary, traditional and eclectic and even have a fun quiz to try and help you learn the different styles. I think fun unique ideas like that help a blog stand out. I took the quiz and found our that my style is likely more traditional. Also, they have helpful hints throughout the blog, which I think is a great concept. Everyone loves helpful hints and can be very useful.
FAVORITE BLOG #2-Jennifer's Blog
One of the things I absolutely love about her posts is that she begins each one with a quote. By beginning each post this way, it captures the attention of the reader and gets them interested in what you are talking about. One of my favorite blogs that I have read of hers is “Foyers-How to Spruce up your design”. First off, I love the quote “Every exit is an entry somewhere else.”
-Tom Stoppard. The next thing I love about this post is that she explains each element you have to consider when designing foyers or entryways. It’s great to read successful designers thoughts and design tips. Jennifer also ends each posts with a personal message or a thank you which personalizes it to the reader. The thing I didn’t like about this blog is that some of her posts were kind of random. Some of her posts are very useful while others don’t really have any relevance to the design world.
FAVORITE BLOG #1- Adore Your Place
I really love this design blog. It grabbed my attention right away. It has a great overall design that makes you want to check it out further. Another thing that makes this blog great is that she answers reader’s questions which ensures that what is being talked about is something that the readers are interested in and want to know. Also, the pictures that are used are great and help show what the designer is saying. Having great pictures also helps keep the reader interested. What also makes this blog great is that the designer explains what makes a space great. When she shows pictures of a space she tells us why it is good and what makes the room work.
When Looking through many blogs this month, these five are the ones that stood out and inspired me. I hope you look at each of these blogs because they are great!
Have a great night everyone!!
Tasha
